Sonya-Lee Zezza: About Me

Welcome!

I have spent most of my career assisting clients of all ages with medical issues and those that have experienced physical and/or symbolic grief/trauma. I have had the opportunity to work in specialized areas: dialysis, hospice, organ donation and donor recipient, refugees, homelessness, perinatal death, homicides, natural disasters, and ambiguous loss. Due to the huge emotional strain that these issues entail, many clients suffer anxiety, depression and have lost hope.

My work with my clients focuses on ways to restore hope and balance. I accomplish this by assisting my clients in Solution Focused Brief Theory. Depending on the needs of the client, I incorporate other effective theory-based modalities as well such as meditation and mindfulness activities or creating expressive art if that helps facilitate hope and balance, because I believe that healing can come in the form of art and playful expressions, especially for young children.

I have an AS degree in Early Childhood Education from North Shore Community College in Danvers, MA, a BA in Child Life from Wheelock College in Boston, MA, a MSW in Social Work with a certificate in Early Intervention from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and completed all of the requirements for the designation of Licensed Clinical Social Worker, (LCSW ) in FL & Maine. I am certified in trauma and grief counseling along with have training in Maternal Mental Health.

Fun Facts About Me: I was born in Maine (my first residency was living in a lighthouse) and grew up north of Boston (Wicked Awesome). I spent many years living in Virginia before moving to Saint Augustine in 2018 to be closer to family. I can drive a standard, ran three marathons and countless half’s (four of them were international ones) and care for two plants very carefully at my house. I love traveling, Prayer Flags, nature and I am a total “gym rat.” Best of all: I am a Gator Mom!!

Sonya-Lee Zezza: About Therapy

FAQs

How long is each session?

Every therapy session is 50 minutes

How do I schedule an appointment?

I personally handle all of my scheduling. Please contact me to schedule an appointment. For new clients, once you request an appointment, you will receive an email with consent forms and intake questionnaires to complete prior to your appointment. I will need to speak to the parent or legal guardian of all minor children in regard to scheduling a session.

What is your session fee? Do you take insurance?

My session fee is $160 per session

I currently do not accept any insurance plans and would be considered an "out of network" provider by your insurance company, should you have mental health coverage. Upon request, I can provide you with a diagnostic receipt of services (a Superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company. I suggest you contact your insurance company to determine what benefits you have.  All sessions are 50 minutes.

How do I pay for sessions?

I accept all major credit cards, debit cards, cash, checks, and HSA cards.

What type of therapy do you do?

I most often utilize Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. However, depending on the needs of my clients I incorporate other theory-based modalities as well as meditation, mindfulness, & expressive arts.
